Pick up orders have no service fees, regardless of non-Instacart+ or Instacart+ membership. Instacart+ membership waives this like it would a delivery fee. There may be a "pickup fee" (equivalent to a delivery fee for pickup orders) on your pick up order that is typically $1.99 for non-Instacart+ members. With an optional Instacart+ membership, you can get $0 delivery fee on every order over $35 and lower service fees too. 100% of your tip goes directly to the shopper who delivers your order. And the green apple martini that did its part to spike interest is now thankfully gone, replaced by properly mixed classics. Here's a breakdown of Instacart delivery cost: The small space has a fun yet still intimate ambience and the drinks and bartender are great. This trend was reinforced by four sexy city girls who downed more than a few Cosmos on HBO. In the late 1990s, a cocktail resurgence began with new appreciation for the martini. Remaining patrons were left with a flimsy red straw, hardly substantial enough to move the ice around their drink. Twizzle Stix treat combines the long chew-time of rawhide with the unmatched palatability of Redbarn Bully Sticks. The rise of Jane Fonda workout videos and general health consciousness prompted a decline in cocktail consumption, bars and restaurants tightened their belts, and swizzle sticks practically disappeared. It wasn’t until the 1980s that swizzle sticks fell upon hard times. They made customers feel like they were given a gift, and the cheap but magical memories on a stick beckoned them back to an establishment again and again. Taking swizzles as a memento was assumed and encouraged. Las Vegas casinos all competed to have the most extravagant swizzle in town. As playful representations of their establishments, they became more whimsical and intricate - for example, sporting a lobster for a seafood restaurant or a steer for a steakhouse. Swizzle sticks are our specialty, so why not create the gift that keeps on giving Our team took to the challenge and produced our new HOPE Ribbon Stir. They were snapped up as soon as they were set out, and the more exciting the design, the faster they were pocketed. The swizzle stick’s origin can be traced to its first appearance on sugar plantations in the West Indies in the 1600s as a small branch used to stir a refreshing rum elixir called Switchel. Swizzles became an important part of any lounge’s décor. By the 1960s, we’d reached the golden age of the swizzle stick any form was possible, fantasy designs were limited only by an artist’s imagination and a client’s request. World War II and then the space race prompted growth in injection molding and plastic technologies that were good for the development of the swizzle. 19, 1935, and his invention and his company, Spir-it Inc., are still in business. Swizzle sticks conveyed the information and were cheaper than a book of printed matches and cheaper still than the vanishing ashtrays that also boasted printed logos. This idea would have been worthless during Prohibition when speak-easies hid from the law, but after repeal, drinking establishments wanted their names and addresses out in public. In my opinion, the importance of understanding the Taoist element of The Art of War can hardly be exaggerated. This translation of The Art of War presents the classic from the point of view of its background in the great spiritual tradition of Taoism, the origin not only of psychology but also of science and technology in East Asia, and the source of the insights into human nature that underlie this most revered of handbooks for success. Its aim is invincibility, victory without battle, and unassailable strength through understanding of the physics, politics, and psychology of conflict. Indeed, some see in the successes of postwar Japan an illustration of Sun Tzu’s dictum of the classic, “To win without fighting is best.” As a study of the anatomy of organizations in conflict, The Art of War applies to competition and conflict in general, on every level from the interpersonal to the international. In Japan, which was transformed directly from a feudal culture into a corporate culture virtually overnight, contemporary students of The Art of War have applied the strategy of this ancient classic to modern politics and business with similar alacrity. TRANSLATOR’S PREFACE The Art of War (Sunzi bingfa/Sun-tzu ping-fa), compiled well over two thousand years ago by a mysterious Chinese warrior-philosopher, is still perhaps the most prestigious and influential book of strategy in the world today, as eagerly studied in Asia by modern politicians and executives as it has been by military leaders and strategists for the last two millennia and more. You don’t really have to say anything, just be there and listen. There is a traditional Hebrew phrase to say at funerals and houses of mourning, “Ha-Makom hu yinachem et chem b’toch avlei tsiyon v’yerushalayim.” It means, “May the Merciful One comfort you among the mourners for Zion and Jerusalem.” It seems unlikely you will need to say this, but it’s good to be in the know. When you see someone you love at a sad occasion like a funeral, what do you say? There is a Yiddish expression, “Oyf simches” which means, “Let’s only meet at happy occasions.” A good substitute is, “Glad you could make it,” or “Hope the next time we meet is at a happier occasion.” If someone says that to you, reply, “Baruch tihiyeh”-or just, “Thanks!” Sad Occasions If you feel uncomfortable pronouncing that, you can say, “Good job” and shake their hand. When someone has an aliyah (is called up to the Torah during a service) or reads from the Torah, or does some public ritual in the synagogue, one traditional thing to say is “Yasher koach,” may your strength increase. (The feminine form of this word is “tithadshi.”) There isn’t a really a good English equivalent, because there’s no specific way of congratulating people on getting new things-but you can always say, “Congratulations, enjoy it!” When your friend gets new clothes, a new house, or a new car, there is a special way to congratulate them-“Tithadesh,” may it renew you. That’s because, at Jewish weddings, it’s traditional to break a glass and sometimes also a plate. You might also hear some wise guy yell “Mazel tov” in a Jewish delicatessen when someone drops dishes. If someone says “Congratulations!” to you when you say you are going to a friend’s wedding, say, “Thanks,” not, “It’s not my wedding, you goofball.” One thing that makes the Jewish subculture a little different from the dominant culture is that it’s typical to congratulate the parents, siblings, and friends of people getting married, having a baby or watching their relative become bar or bat mitzvah. It’s also a nice thing to say to someone who has a birthday, gets a new job, or a new car. It’s something to say to couples getting married (or their anniversary), parents of children becoming bar or bat mitzvah, and new parents (but not to be said to expecting parents). Though this expression means literally good luck (or “a good sign”), it’s always used to mean congratulations. If you feel uncomfortable pronouncing that, say, “I’m so happy for you.” Instead, say “b’sha’ah tovah,” or “in a good hour”-meaning something like, I hope this works out perfectly.

The weight vector is obtained by minimizing the sum of the two. For example in regularized least squares you have the loss function $\sum_i \|y_i - \langle w, x_i\rangle - b\|_2^2$ and the regularizer $\|w\|_2^2$. One reason is that it does not correspond to a normalizable likelihood. Understand that Gradient Descent can be used to optimize the objective function when k = 1 (Hinge Loss) by changing the inequality constraint to equality constraint.Let me first answer your question in general. We will use both of these in later tutorials. If k = 1, then the loss is named as Hinge Loss and if k =2 then its called Quadratic Loss. The value of C is chosen by Cross Validation during training time. In other words, the Hyper Parameter C controls the relative weighting between the twin goals of making margin large and ensures that most examples have functional margin at least 1. If $ C \to \infty $ then the margin does not have any effect and the objective function tries to just minimize the loss.If $ C \to 0 $, then the loss is zero and we are trying to maximize the margin. The HyperParameter C is also called as Regularization Constant. \begin^n (\xi_i)^k $ is the loss term and C is a HyperParameter which controls the tread-off between maximizing the margin and minimizing the loss. Given a training example $(X_i,y_i)$, the Functional Margin of $( \beta, b) $ w.r.t the training example will be, However later need to use geometry to re-define the equation ( known as Geometric Margin ).įunctional Margin is used to define the theoretical aspect of margin. We can conceptually define the equation of margin ( known as Functional Margin ).We will discuss about two types of margin. Use the observable dataset to find the best margin, so that the appropriate Hyperplane can be identified. Next, we will understand how we can define margin mathematically. Watch the video or post comments if you need help. The above statement is very important, make sure that you understand it. ( Remember will still use the Margin to select the optimal separating Hyperplane) The first one has much wider margin than the 2nd one, hence the first Hyperplane is more optimal than 2nd one.įinally, we can say, in Maximal Margin Classifier, in order to classify the data, we will use a separating hyperplane, which has the farthest (max) minimum (min) distance from the observations. Let’s select two Hyperplanes, based on the margin. The size of the Margin defines the confidence of the classifier, hence the most wide margin is preferable. If you have just completed Logistic Regression or want to brush up your knowledge on SVM then this tutorial will help you. We will go through concepts, mathematical derivations then code everything in python without using any SVM library. This Support Vector Machines for Beginners – Linear SVM article is the first part of the lengthy series. Hence I wanted to create a tutorial where I want to explain every intricate part of SVM in a very beginner friendly way. It took me around 2 weeks just to go through all the derivations and have a basic understanding of Support Vector Machines. I felt SVM is very hard to understand during my ML class at University, then had another struggle to find the resources which can teach me SVM from ground up. However most of the time the learning curve is not very smooth as it’s a vast subject by itself and often most of the curriculums are trying to squeeze many topics in one course. In academia almost every Machine Learning course has SVM as part of the curriculum since it’s very important for every ML student to learn and understand SVM. We still use it where we don’t have enough dataset to implement Artificial Neural Networks. Support Vector Machines (SVM) is a very popular machine learning algorithm for classification. Creating a well-structured, organized and detailed table increases your chances of getting a table in SERP. Use the HTML codes below to create tables for your content. The code below is an example of a simple HTML table: This allows search engines to identify the content that is being presented. The first row of the table should act as the header, describing the data that will be featured. Making a comparison table for SEO is a great way to enrich your content and increase the likelihood of the table appearing as a rich result. Displaying the data in columns is oftentimes more understandable and efficient.Ī common practice for businesses is to use tables as a tool to compare two products and/or services. Tables are often used to organize tabular data, making it easier for the reader to scan information. Why should you create tables for your content? When it comes to deciding which HTML table is best for your content, you can choose to use a horizontal table, vertical table or fusion table. Incorporating tables is a great way to make your information easily digestible for the reader and get rich results. Increase the CTR due to enhanced visibility and targeted results Google analysis of technical and on-page contentĬan increase the CTR but may already answer the query in the SERP without requiring users to engage further Differences between featured snippets and rich snippets Rich results contain additional visual elements and can be found anywhere on the SERP. This means it will sit above all standard text results. Additionally, a featured result ranks as a result 0. Featured snippets show extracted content from the original page in a highlighted box. What is a featured snippet?Ī featured snippet is a type of rich result. One specific example of a notable rich result is a featured snippet. In fact, a Google SERP study conducted by Milestone Research found that users click on rich results 58% of the time while non-rich results had a CTR of roughly 41%. Being more visually pleasing usually causes more people to click on them, resulting in a higher click-through rate (CTR). Rich results offer a more visual way to summarize a page’s purpose. These snippets only contain the title, in the form of a blue link, and a brief description.Ī rich result, an example pictured below, will contain a bit more information for the user compared to a standard search. When users are on the search engine results page (SERP), most of the results that appear are shown as a regular snippet. They can include images, tables, star ratings, lists and other forms of non-textual elements. Rich snippets, also known as rich results, are Google search results that include additional information outside of the standard title and meta description. Incorporating keywords and alt text can help improve your ranks on search engines but if you really want to catch a reader’s eye, optimizing your content to create rich snippets can help increase page visibility. Figuring out how to make your web pages SEO-friendly can be a difficult task. ON1 Photo Raw has been leading the charge with a new model of workflow efficiency that I call a multipurpose hub solution (yes, I just made up that term. That doesn’t mean we can’t substantially streamline our workflow. Historically we’ve always needed multiple programs and now there are dozens of plug-ins that provide wonderful options and save us time. I’m excited about all the great choices we have now for raw workflow. ** Download a Free Trial of Photo Raw 2018 new release here ** An Exciting New Age in Raw Workflow If you go for the new Lightroom CC then you’ll be paying even more and Adobe will be holding your images hostage, er “hosted” on their servers (aka Adobe Cloud.) Last month Adobe released two variations of Lightroom amidst much dismay and confusion among users due to the naming scheme and other issues such as over-writing previous versions owned by users when they installed a trial of Lightroom Classic CC (which replaces Lightroom CC, not to be confused with the former Lightroom CC.) Just the name “Classic” implies its inevitable demise and with the Adobe addiction model of selling, you won’t have anything to show for years of paying monthly fees when it either goes away or you decide you don’t want to continue paying. The straw that broke the workflow-camel’s back for me has been my loss of confidence in Adobe and Lightroom. After 10 years of using Lightroom, why I’m leery of continuing with it Read on for more elaboration and the details comparing Lightroom in my real world assessment. On top of that I shoot Fuji X-Trans cameras which have been a special challenge for developers of raw processors. This is saying a lot as I’ve been using Lightroom daily for 10 years and have more than 130,000 images cataloged with it. I’ve already established in previous reviews that ON1 Photo Raw is a top choice of mine for non-destructive raw processing but I want to expand on that: I am in the process of moving towards ON1 Photo Raw as my main workflow hub. Those of you that know me or my reviews know I like to give the bottom line first. Special Fuji Section included (below) Bottom Line First I got a lot of great questions so I’ll incorporate those in this assessment of using the new release of Photo Raw 2018 in a real world workflow. I just got back from Phoenix conducting a seminar at the Arizona Highways Focus on Photography Symposium entitiled: A New Age in Raw Workflow with ON1 Photo Raw. I’m now transitioning to ON1 Photo Raw 2018 More details in the review After 10 Years of Using Lightroom If this happens consider using it with a Luminosity Mask. This image is from an X-Trans raw file (Fuji sensor.) These are normally a big challenge for raw processors but I was able to process it quickly and effectively with ON1 Photo Raw 2018 using 2 of my favorite filters- Dynamic Contrast and Color Enhancer. Another problem you might encounter when using this slider is that shadow detail can block up when you apply this adjustment at higher levels. Like the Clarity slider, you can use it to enhance image detail, so the same warnings apply. You will find the Clarity slider positioned just below the Detail slider. You should also consider applying the adjustment selectively using the filter’s mask. It’s, therefore, best to apply it sparingly to high ISO images. The danger with this slider is that it can exaggerate unwanted image noise. When you do this, it can help give your image a feeling of depth. It’s also an excellent tool where you want to emphasise the textures in an image, especially for foreground objects. This is a great adjustment to use if you want to exaggerate the appearance of fine image detail. You’ll see the Detail slider just below the Compression slider. Be careful not to apply too strong an adjustment though as it can damage the image contrast. This can be very effective for landscape photography where the exposure isn’t well balanced between the sky and land. For example, if your image has a lot of dark or bright areas, moving the slider to the right will correct these. Use the Compression slider to compress the tones in an image. I don’t mean to speak for everyone, but if I may: Dispensing floss from a traditional container is not difficult. In that regard, Quip is right: It’s hard to floss if you don’t have floss with you. Its similarity to a lipstick tube or a lighter made it feel like something you would naturally throw in your bag before leaving the house (which I did, repeatedly). What the packaging does have going for it is the cylindrical shape, which is weirdly comforting to hold. Did something as humble as floss really need to come in this sleek container? I do believe that a more beautiful version of a practical item can make you more likely to use it - a stylish Muji dustpan, for instance, or a fun coatrack - but at first glance the flashy look of Quip’s minimalist packaging wasn’t encouraging me to floss more. When the Quip floss arrived, the cylindrical rose-gold metal looked like a vaguely millennial object: matte metallic, smooth, a little techy, as if the shell of an iPhone had been melted down and reformed as a dental-floss package. I was a bit skeptical that it could encourage me any more than my trusty Oral-B did from its position in the medicine cabinet, but I’ll do anything if it means never squeezing that stuffed alligator again. When Quip offered to send some of their new floss, I accepted. Similar to the brand’s toothbrush and its toothbrush-head refill service, Quip’s floss is sent to you every three months - a $5 tube that you load, like a cartridge, into the metal or plastic container. The thought being, apparently, that a visual reminder can also serve as incentive. They do that by packaging the floss in a carrying case that looks nice enough to leave out on your sink. They call it “The first floss you’ll want to use.” Packaged in a $20 refillable metal (or plastic, for $10 less) container, Quip’s floss is meant to encourage a daily flossing habit - which, it’s worth noting, some experts say may not even be necessary. (I tested their toothbrush, along with five others from start-ups, this summer.) Now they’re trying the same thing with floss. Quip is the direct-to-consumer company that introduced the idea of subscription electric-toothbrush heads in 2015. But Quip thinks they can make it even easier. It’s easy and basic, as flossing should be. My not-exactly-religious-but-good-enough flossing routine has involved Oral-B Glide, a straightforward floss that’s almost always in stock at CVS. And I have been, mostly - at least enough to avoid additional cavities. As I stared through orange-tinted protective glasses up at the fake clouds and sky on the ceiling, listening to the drill, I vowed that I would be better at flossing from then on. Years ago, in a dentist’s chair on the 69th floor of the Chrysler Building - which has since moved to a lower floor somewhere in the West 30s, thanks to a rent spike - this Strategist writer found herself gripping a plush “comfort” alligator, while her dentist filled a number of cavities.
